Fun on Facebook Friday

I see where the ever present social networking site Facebook now has over 500 million users. This of course might account for the almost 10% unemployment in our country, but I digress.

If the Facebook nation were a country it would be the 3rd largest in the world. It is also the second most popular web site in the world (after Google) and for many has replaced email, telephones and other forms of communication.

No doubt it’s an incredible way to reach a wide audience and that’s why WRAF uses Facebook to connect with you and reach out to those who are not familiar with our programming.

To encourage more of you to join us in this arena we are starting “Fun on Facebook Fridays” at WRAF. Visit the page frequently for various contests and lots of prizes including free music. It’s a “Fun on Facebook Friday” from your friends at Toccoa Falls Radio.

Rick Warren temporarily loses eyesight

LAKE FOREST, Calif. — Pastor Rick Warren was briefly hospitalized due to an eye-injury that he suffered while gardening at home.

Warren's spokesman Larry Ross said the sap of a firestick plant got into Warren's eyes when he wiped his brow while gardening. The sap can cause temporary blindness, although Ross said Warren can see.

The 56-year-old pastor was treated overnight and released Tuesday from Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo. On Thursday, he sent a message to his Twitter followers asking for their prayers.

"My eyes were severely burned," Warren wrote. "Excruciating pain."
He is expected to make a full recovery.

Warren is the author of the multimillion-selling book "Purpose Driven Life," and founder of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest in Orange County.

Ceiling fans reduce energy costs summer and winter

The concept is simple. If you use a ceiling fan, you can raise your thermostat and still get the same cooling effect. That means lower electric bills in the long run.
Ceiling fans work by creating a wind-chill effect. As in winter, when the wind makes it feel colder outside, so the wind — or motion — created by ceiling fans makes you feel cooler in the summer.
