Ken Ham - State of the Nation 2010

Last evening, Ken Ham, Biblical apologist and President of Answers in Genesis (AiG), offered his “State of the Nation” speech, given at the Creation Museum in Kentucky, and made available live by satellite. In his speech, Ham highlighted how far the United States has wandered from its moral foundations, and used the opportunity to call Christians back to their Biblical roots. “Many Christians have been duped into accepting a false idea: that there is a ‘neutral’ position they can take in regard to social issues,” said Ham. “Some Christians even accept the myth that the U.S. Constitution declares that there should be a separation of church and state. God’s Word, however, makes it clear that there is no neutral position…God’s people need to unashamedly and uncompromisingly stand on the Bible and its absolute standards.

We need to proclaim a Christian worldview and the Gospel, all the while giving answers for the hope we have.” The full speech is available here on the AiG website.

The Community Church in Commerce, GA is the newest WRAF Church of the Week.

Congratulations to Pastor Jeremy Harris and the entire congregation!

Hemda nominated the church and says, "Our church started in our Pastors home 5 years ago. After we out grew his living room, we were able to move into a small building. In a neighborhood that did not want us there. In July of 2006 someone burned down our building. Our Pastor never faltered we built another building. Last year again we out grew our small building and a local restraunt Parham's let us rent there building on Sunday mornings we did that for 9 months we had to take the restraunt down and put it back. Our Pastor had a vision that he passed on to us. God had called us to Commerce to Connect with the Community. In May of this year God gave us a semi home for at least 2 years. We have leased a store front in Down Town Commerce. Our Pastor Jeremy and his wife have 4 children. He gave his life to Christ almost 10 years ago. He through all the storms are small church has had has never given up and never let satan beat him. We have incredible leadership. Even though we are small in number every week we are given the oppurtunity to help others. We have helped people move, helped minister to those in the community whether they attend our church or not. The Love of Christ is showed. Last year we had a booth in the Maysville Autumn Festival. We gave away free cotton candy, face painting and everyone asked why was it free. Pastor Jeremy told them it was our way of giving back letting them know Jesus loved them."

WRAF Turns 30!

WRAF is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary!

Hard to believe, but this is the thirtieth anniversary year of ministry over WRAF. Our birthday is in September, but all throughout 2010 we will be thanking God for His goodness and blessings at Toccoa Falls Radio.

We would like to thank each one of you that have stood with us over the years with your prayers and financial contributions. WRAF has been listener-supported ever since we first went on the air back in 1980. We thank you for what you have done and what you continue to do!

How can YOU help us celebrate?

We know we have listeners that have listened to WRAF for a number of years...some have even been with us since the beginning. We also are grateful for all the new listeners that the Lord sends our way every year.

One way you can help us celebrate our anniversary is to share a story about WRAF with us. If you have an anecdote about WRAF or a favorite moment from your years of listening, share it with us! Look and see if you have any old photographs of WRAF personalities or events. Send those to us and we will make a copy and return them to you.

You can email your photos and stories to us, or mail them to us at

A Few Gems...

In searching through our archives, we found lots of wonderful historic gems and thought we'd share a couple of them with you now.

Many of you will remember Frank Nagle, the "Night Watchman." For many years he hosted the overnight show on WRAF and brought hope and encouragement to so many. Here is a picture we found of Frank and his wife Madge. We believe this was taken at a WRAF party or open house in the early 90's.

Here is a picture of the original WRAF staff in 1980.

Back row (left to right): Frank Nagle (Night Watchman), Dale McMindes (our first engineer that built WRAF), Jimmy Rich (station manager), and Alex Lunceford (announcer).

From row (seated, left to right): Beverly Dibble (secretary) and Joanne Bowen (secretary and announcer):

We would love for you to send us your WRAF photos and stories. Remember, we will scan all original photos and return them back to you. Together let’s honor the Lord for how He has used our partnership to “tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.”
