Recipe of the Day: Lilly's Chili

Here is a one of the delicious recipes that will be featured in the new cookbook Radio Recipes from the WRAF Family.

Lilly's Chili

1-lb. lean ground beef

1 medium onion, chopped

2 (15-oz.) cans Bush's chili hot beans

1 (15-oz.) can light red kidney beans

1 (15-oz.) can pork and beans (remove pork)

1 (15-oz.) can tomato sauce

1 (15-oz.) can stewed tomatoes, undrained

1 sm. green pepper, cut in strips

2 to 3 T. chili powder (more if desired)

1/2 tsp. black pepper

1/2 to 1 tsp. sugar

water

Brown and crumble ground beef in large, Duch-oven kettle; add onions and simmer together a few minutes. Add remaining ingredients, including a can of water with each can of beans and with the can of tomato sauce, stirring well. Bring to a boil, then simmer for at least an hour. This freezes well, and is better every time it is reheated.
