Special North Georgia Elections Moved to May 11

Special elections to fill vacant Congressional, State Senate and State House seats in North Georgia will be held May 11 instead of April 27.

In the 9th Congressional District – consisting of extreme North Georgia counties west of Hall, White & Union – voters will select a replacement for Nathan Deal in the U.S. House.

In the 49th State Senate District – consisting of Hall and a northwest section of Jackson County – voters will fill the legislative seat formerly held by Sen. Lee Hawkins

In the 12th State House District – consisting mostly of Pickens & Gordon counties – voters will replace Rep. Tom Graves.

All three elections will be held on May 11.

Runoff elections, if necessary, will be held June 8.

Be sure you are registered to vote:

Voters must be registered at least 30 days before a given election.

Contact your County Registrar for the deadline.

If you’ve moved to another district in Georgia you must re-register after 30 days at your new address.

You can register to vote at the office of your County Registrar or you can register online at the office of the Georgia Secretary of State at: sos.georgia.gov/elections/

To be eligible to register or vote in the state of Georgia, you must be:
• A citizen of the United States
• A legal resident of Georgia and of the county in which you wish to vote
• At least 18 years of age by election day
