Church of the Nations in Athens, GA, is the newest WRAF Church of the Week.
Congratulations to Pastor Mel Holmes and the entire congregation!
Sallie nominated the church and says, "My church is special because it has many outreach ministries. On August 1, 2009 our church set up tents around Athens and gave away free food. The church was told to remind people that God's love is free, so we gave out free hotdogs and hamburgers at several local parks in Athens and Watkinsville. Because of this one event, our church van picked up people for service on the following sunday. On Mother's Day, our church purchased flowers and gave them to mothers through the city of Athens. We've picked up people from the Potter's House etc. Our church supports many missions from around the nations. Church of the Nations has a youth pastor. We have activities for the entire family. We focus on our youth as well as our young people and adults. The Mpact Girls and the Royal Rangers are always busy. The congregation is encouraged to be an out reach church. The elders and pastor lead by example. The pastor, Dr. Mel Holmes is a humble man that is full of the Holy Spirit. He preaches the word of God without restraint. Church of the Nations is a community church because it is built on an outreach ministry. '
